Position Summary

The Director of Content will define and lead the department direction for developing original and compelling content, serve as managing editor across all content initiatives, and build and manage a team of writers, editors, content creators, and support staff to drive business line growth, customer engagement, brand awareness, and lead generation. 


Reporting directly to the VP of Editorial & Consulting Services, this position is responsible for shaping our intellectual property content in ways that increase customer engagement, expand our reach, and build brand awareness.  This leader will collaborate with our exceptional editorial and creative content team to produce engaging and insightful content for our readers, subscribers and event attendees. 


This position is based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Neenah, WI (relocation assistance provided). J. J. Job Responsibilities

  • Delivers results in line with the following key metrics/accountabilities: Revenue growth by product line, Subscription retention by product line, Customer engagement and satisfaction, Budget / Expense to Revenue, and Content Complete On-Time Percentage. 
  • Develop an overall content strategy including setting guidelines for editorial tone, style and voice.
  • Create dynamic, one-of-a-kind, meaningful content that is optimized for customer experience.
  • Ensure content is aligned directly to the needs of our target transport, EH&S, and HR audiences, infusing the brand with voice and personality.
  • Develop standards, systems, and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, retrieval, and repurposing. 
  • Oversee the development, execution, and continuous improvement of all processes related to content ideation, curation, production, and quality assurance. 
  • Stay current with content trends and identify innovative and creative ways to improve content. 
  • Oversee the hiring, coaching, and leadership of all editorial and content associates. Work closely with all functional areas (Marketing, R&D, Sales, Manufacturing, etc.) to coordinate content and content delivery.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with key content stakeholders across the business.
  • Develop distribution plans for positioning or re-positioning content across multiple business lines and channels to drive business results.
  • Conduct ongoing analytics to gauge content effectiveness and measure customer engagement.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English or a related field


  • 10+ years in an editorial or content management function responsible for the creation and management of print, digital, and mobile content, including experience in a B2B environment
  • 7+ years in a leadership role, including experience leading content delivery teams
  • Experience establishing and implementing revenue/product growth strategies
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment, including experience managing large projects
  • Business process improvement experience

  • Excellent organizational skills; proven capability to manage strategy to execution and work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to create compelling, contemporary, and engaging content, with strong written communication and editiing skills. 
  • Multi-channel print and digital content creation
  • A growth and innovation mindset
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen
  • Proven experience building a high performing team and culture
  • Public speaking experience
  • Knowledge of the Transport, EH&S or HR fields a plus

Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
