Position Summary

 

This role owns the corporate growth plan for multiple product lines, including J. J. Keller's Supplies, Law Posters, and Forms lines and leads a team of eight with two direct reports. Included in the team is a Marketing Manager and a variety of marketing and creative resources to plan and execute promotions and support sales activity.  The team’s initiatives are also supported by other centralized resources, including e-commerce and analytics.

 

The Director position creates and helps execute the cross-functional marketing plans that coordinates analytical, product, promotional and channel resources to reach sales goals for line growth and profitability. The position is directly accountable for the achievement of these goals as measured in line-specific P&L and sales reports.  Many of these goals are shared with other teams, such as R&D and Sales, and this role will collaborate with key partners to achieve them.

 

This position offers the ability to impact/drive corporate growth and success and is a key position with visibility and accountability across all levels and platforms.

 

This role can work 100% remote within the US, hybrid remote/on-site or fully on-site in Neenah, WI.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads, develops and coaches team.
    • Provides clear expectations, feedback and recognition
    • Participates in the hiring/selection process
    • Writes and conducts performance evaluations and progress reports
    • Handles associate relations issues
  • Delivers results in line with the following metrics:
    • Net revenue/billing growth targets
    • Contribution margin targets
    • Gross Margin targets
    • Change in deferred revenue targets
  • Creates short- and long-term line marketing plans that guide the revenue growth and profitability of multi-million dollar product lines as measured in a line-specific P&Ls.
  • Directs the marketing mix for assigned products and services, including but not limited to:
    • Line customer segmentation (using profile and analysis tools)
    • Line market segmentation (with marketing development advisors)
    • Line channel mix, inclusive of both field and inside sales, e-commerce, catalog, and direct marketing
    • Line positioning, helping to ensure consistent messaging and competitive differentiation
    • Line/product promotion and offer development, including lists, tests and format in keeping with growth and profitability expectations
    • Monitors performance of existing products and identifies, recommends and implements changes as necessary to achieve results
    • Makes new product development/existing product enhancement recommendations for the line to the Portfolio team and Business Units; works closely and collaborates with these departments in ensuring customer-centric execution
    • Responsible for line pricing and margin management
    • Regularly analyzes key product performance factors and trends and recommends strategy changes as required to drive growth
  • Influences overall corporate line strategy across all markets, identifying and resolving line/channel conflict or issues. Coordinates this strategy with Portfolio, Business Units and Sales Platforms and the market-level plans to ensure seamless execution.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a fair, ethical and non-discriminatory manner and ensure that staff follows these same guidelines.
  • Manages expenses in line with departmental budgets and corporate business conditions

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 10+ year's product marketing experience in a direct marketing environment; subscription or catalog/supplies experience a plus. 
  • 7+ year's leadership experience.
  • Experience coordinating multiple sales/marketing channels to reach quantitative objectives; experience in a B2B environment with inside sales and partnerships a strong plus.
  • Experience managing P&L a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business-related field.

Other Skills/Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop long-term vision and strategic plans.
  • Ability to develop and implement growth plans and programs.
  • Strong product line marketing management skills with experience managing to product line operating profit.
  • High levels of organization as expressed in a sound planning methodology and the ability to execute specific action elements from the plan.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with a variety of departments and cross-functional teams.

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices or customer sales may also be required, depending on assignment.
