Position Summary

Join our SAP team! The Sr. SAP BW Developer role will design and build the components of a business intelligence (BI) data warehouse (DW) utilizing SAP Business Warehouse (BW).  This role will perform data analysis, create/assist in creating reporting solutions and assist in the maintenance of the SAP BW software platform in support of business objectives. This may also include developing data flows to on premise and online multi-tier web and client-server applications and maintaining SAP Hana or databases, understanding and evaluating business requirements and translating them into solutions.



Our SAP footprint is growing and our BW solutions are making an impact on the organization's growth. We're in the process of implementing SAP BW/4HANA; this role will play a key role in bringing added capabilities to the organization. 


This position could work at our corporate headquarters in Neenah, WI, or may work remotely from a home-based office in the US. 


Job Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops SAP Business Warehouse (BW), data analysis and reporting solutions. Works with data visualization tools to develop solutions that help drive business value.
  • Develops BW objects, functions and structures for data storage, retrieval and reporting. 
  • Designs and develops Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solutions to populate the data warehouse using SAP BW and SAP Business-Objects Data Services (BODS). 
  • Develops automated and reusable routines for extracting requested information from SAP source systems. 
  • Designs and develops ETL solutions to populate external databases from the data warehouse utilizing Open Hub technology and BODS. 
  • Defines, develops, tests, analyzes and maintains front-end and back-end interfaces (if applicable) in support of business objectives. 
  • Builds report and analytic prototypes based on initial business requirements. 
  • Designs, runs and monitors performance tests on new and existing systems for correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement and general debugging.  
  • Promotes strong quality practices by performing unit testing and providing appropriate level of support for user acceptance testing, as needed. 
  • Acts as a support resource for the technical support staff to ensure that customer-reported issues are being addressed in an efficient and accurate manner. Serves as a liaison with database and Basis administrators, developers and vendors (if needed) to assist in resolving problems with systems. 
  • Maintains and tests the data warehouse in compliance with the company's disaster recovery plan. 
  • Trains end users on new or modified applications and reports. 
  • Conducts research on emerging software development solutions, tools and standards in support of business needs. 
  • Collaborates with business leaders to design solutions. 


  • 5+ years designing and managing a SAP BW data warehouse in a BW development role, including experience with SAP BW/4HANA.


  • Bachelor's Degree in a technology-related field.
  • In lieu of Degree, may consider an equivalent combination of education and related work experirence.

Computer Skills:

  • Understanding of SAP BW/DW methodology and techniques.
  • Experience with data modeling.
  • Familiarity with BW Open Hub, OData Sources, BW on Hana and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with BODS preferred.
  • SAP ABAP programming knowledge.
  • Experience with reporting tools strongly preferred; Bex and/or Business Objects Enterprise/Lumira experience a plus..

Other Requirements:

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills – experience in analyzing and understanding business/technology system architectures, databases, and client applications.
  • Ability to work with business and technology users to define and gather reporting and analytics requirements. 
Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Frequent travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
