Position Summary

J. J. Keller is seeking to fill a rare opening on our Accounting & Finance team. Due to an upcoming retirement, we are looking for a Credit & Collections Manager who will be responsible for leading a team to consistently achieve business results and to ensure internal/external customer/client service expectations are fulfilled. The Credit & Collection team is responsible for the collection of delinquent accounts and for approving credit lines for customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads, develops and coaches team:
    - Provides clear expectations, feedback and recognition
    - Participates in the hiring/selection process
    - Writes and conducts performance evaluations and progress reports
    - Handles associate relations issues 
  • Delivers results in line with the following key metrics/accountabilities:
    - Associate retention
    - Accounts receivable aging
    - Budget control
    - Bad debt write-off 
  • Utilizes credit reports and other available information to analyze and approve credit lines for new and existing customers to support credit sales while managing credit risk. 
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures for collection of delinquent accounts. Manages placement with collection agency and makes final determination on bad-debt write-offs. 
  • Manages or personally handles credit and collection activities on large or sensitive accounts. 
  • Manages expenses in line with departmental budgets and corporate business conditions.  
  • Carries out responsibilities in a fair, ethical and non-discriminatory manner and ensure that staff follows these same guidelines. 
  • Enforces and support all company policies and procedures. Fully support the company's commitment to safety and the environment and strives to maintain a clean, healthy and safe workplace. 

Qualifications

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in business-to-business credit/collections.
  • 1+ year of collections leadership experience.
  • Experience with SAP Financials desirable.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, would consider an additional 5 years of collections leadership experience. 

 

Other Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite, with high proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and commercial credit reports.
  • Ability to develop and implement growth plans and programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 

Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time.
