Position Summary
Join J. J. Keller's Innovation team in this new role! This position is responsible for the invention, design, and development of new products and generational improvements to existing products. This position will invent the future while providing the technical abilities to design, test, and implement those inventions. This includes extracting new opportunities from Voice of Customer, applying good business acumen with state-of-the-art technologies to provide unique and profitable solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Invents new products to keep workplaces, job sites and highways safe and respectful within, and adjacent to, the electrical / electronic engineering discipline.
- Applies engineering principles to design, prototype, test, evaluate, and implement new designs and inventions.
- Creates new design schematics, layouts, bill of materials, documents, and test plans.
- Prototypes, validates, and troubleshoots designs, both internally, and with partnered outside service providers.
- Develops project plans and executes to plan, providing updates to management.
- Transitions designs into production and provides consultation and design support to internal and external resources.
- Works cross functionally to improve current product lines.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 3+ years working as an electrical/electronic engineer, including prior Product Development experience.
- Prior experience using ECAD design tools.
- Prior experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma a plus.

- Curiosity and understanding of all engineering disciplines, with ambiguity in exploration and focus on execution.
- Self-directed and able to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
- Possess a continuous improvement outlook and suggest, promote and champion product changes.
- Advanced problem solving and analytical ability, with the ability to critically review and interpret technical documentation.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and to meet key deadlines and manage changing priorities through effective time management skills.
- Ability to translate abstract concepts into physical, testable prototypes.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
