Position Summary
As the Product AVC Engineer in J. J. Keller's Compliance Products area on the Product Management team, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and implementing SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration solutions to support complex product configuration requirements. This role ensures seamless integration with sales, manufacturing, pricing, and logistics processes while maintaining scalability and performance.
The Product AVC Engineer position will work closely with business subject matter experts as well as IT to ensure strong alignment between the business needs and the application solution and services. This lead position will be responsible for developing and delivering an effective VC solution for our business which leverages SAP and industry standard best practices.
In this role you can work 100% remote from a home-based office within the U.S., on-site at our Neenah, WI Corporate Campus, or a blend of on-site and remote from a home-based office.
Job Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Configuration:
- Gather business requirements and translate them into AVC solution designs utilizing SAP best practices for AVC.
- Understand the capabilities and limitations of the native SAP functional solution for AVC.
- Configure AVC models, characteristics, classes, dependencies, and variant tables
- Set up and maintain Knowledge Base (KB) models and manage their lifecycle.
- Design and support both internally and externally produced products by estimating costs based on materials, time and equipment.
- Determine the most cost-effective/cost-efficient production methods.
- Ownership of configurator enhancement life cycle to ensure completeness, consistency, quality, and requirement traceability, validating necessity of enhancement and help to build the business case.
- Integration & Migration:
- Integrate AVC with SAP modules such as SD, PP, PPDS, Pricing, and Logistics.
- Ensure seamless data flow and integrate with external source systems.
- Testing & Documentation:
- Perform system testing, defect resolution, and user acceptance testing.
- Document configuration, design specifications, and functional requirements
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with functional and technical teams for interface and extension requirements.
- Conduct workshops with business stakeholders to validate requirements.
- Develop strong SAP user community through super-user development and knowledge sharing to keep our solution aligned with the business needs.
- Lead and assist team members with problem solving related to software application performance and usage; support on an as-needed basis
- Support & Optimization:
- Provide guidance on best practices, performance tuning, and simplification options.
- Offer post-go-live support and training for end-users.
- Assists team members and business users with problem solving related to the software application.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate's degree in a related field required.
- In lieu of a degree, may consider equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of SAP experience, with experience in lifecycle implementation in Variant Configuration and understands migration strategies from LO-VP to AVC
- Cross functional knowledge of SD/MM/PP/FI/CO SAP modules and the integration points with VC.
- Strong knowledge of SAP AVC concepts including product models, constraints, dependencies, configuration runtime environment
- Hands-on experience with Knowledge Base (KB) and Product Modeling Environment (PMEVC); Familiarity with APIs, Fiori apps, and SAP BTP integration.
- Knowledge of SAP CPQ integration and ABAP debugging for AVC enhancements

- Experience in manufacturing or industries with highly configurable products.
- SAP certification in Variant Configuration or S/4HANA preferred.

J. J. Keller provides a competitive benefit package which includes the following (eligibility requirements apply): Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401(k) and Profit Sharing Plan, etc. The compensation range for this role is $114,000.00 to $130,000.00 which varies depending on factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s overall experience and geographic location. Note that J. J. Keller is not currently recruiting employees to work in California.
