Position Summary
This position is responsible for leading the Sales Tax functions to consistently achieve business results and to ensure internal/external customer/client service expectations are fulfilled. This position can function remotely, on-site at our corporate office in Neenah, WI or hybrid.
Job Responsibilities
- Leads, develops and coaches team:
- Provides clear expectations, feedback and recognition
- Participates in the hiring/selection process
- Writes and conducts performance evaluations and progress reports
- Handles associate relations issues - Delivers results in line with the following key metrics/accountabilities:
- Accuracy and timeliness of tax filings
- Associate retention
- Budget control - Prepares state and applicable municipality sales tax returns as required by state statute.
- Proactively recommends changes in tax procedures, methodology or tax calculations.
- Oversees tax record keeping process for tax compliance, tax accounting and audit and tax planning.
- Performs tax research as needed to keep current with new and old changing tax laws.
- Coordinates tax audits as states require.
- Assists Chief Financial Officer and Controller with various state and federal tax work papers in preparation for year filings.
- Works with Credit and Sales area on customer disputes.
- Fields customer inquiries concerning tax status.
- Works with internal Information Technology staff on various Vertex software interfaces.
- Carries out responsibilities in a fair, ethical and non-discriminatory manner and ensure that staff follows these same guidelines.
- Manages expenses in line with departmental budgets and corporate business conditions. (if applicable)
- Enforces and support all company policies and procedures. Fully support the company's commitment to safety and the environment and strives to maintain a clean, healthy and safe workplace.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 3+ years multi-state corporate sales tax experience.
- State income tax experience.
- Strong general accounting knowledge.
- Prior leadership experience a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Tax or related discipline.
Computer Skills
- Must be proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite.
- SAP and Vertex software experience a plus..

Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
