The purpose of this position is to create visually interesting and compelling artwork to be used in a variety of products (including print, electronic, and web-delivered content-centric products) that support the Training, Publications, Forms & Supplies, and Services Portfolios.
The position uses industry standard software to layout text, format content, manipulate photographs, create illustrations and graphics, and prepare aesthetically-pleasing and easy-to-read products and/or user interface designs.
- Leads the concept, design, production, and project coordination for artwork related to packaging, print, and digital products.
- Creates art to present key concepts visually (through images, illustrations, graphics, infographics, animations, etc.).
- Actively participates in product planning and prioritization discussions, project kickoffs, content meetings, reviews, and other project-based meetings as needed.
- Ensures layout and design has the most effective typography, color, eye path, content segmentation, image selection and cropping, and overall balance.
- Makes necessary preparations for photo shoots; assists photographer and provides art direction during photo shoots.
- Provides back-up for layout & Design Specialists and Multimedia Specialists as directed.
- Works with key stakeholders to meet deadlines and ensure efficient workflow.
- Adheres to the corporate creative brand standards for all products/services and makes recommendations on how to best leverage the branding in the various products.
- Monitors advancements and trends in graphics design and publishing technology and provides consultation in defining style layout and user interface design requirements for print, electronic, and web-delivered, content-centric products.
Experience:
- 5+ years graphic design experience in an agency or corporate environment. Product-related art creation experience preferred.
- Experience completing complex projects with little oversight and few revisions.
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field. In lieu of degree, may consider a combination of education and additional related experience.
Computer Skills:
- Must be highly skilled in the use of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Proficiency in audio/video editing and motion graphics suites, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects is a plus.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to develop graphics concepts through strong, clear visuals.
- Portfolio demonstrating excellence in graphic design and a strong understanding and application of art direction.
- Familiarity with video/audio editing and interactive game/activity building a plus.
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to clearly communicate in written and verbal forms.
- Ability to handle complex projects.
- Understanding of adult learning and instructional design principles preferred.
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
This position also requires participation in photo shoots, which may require moderate physical involvement in setting up, moving and taking down props and other equipment.
