Position Summary

This position provides a variety of administrative support to the transportation function.

Job Responsibilities

  • Rates outbound shipments.
  • Audits freight bills and invoices and resolves discrepancies. Works with carrier, Accounting, Sales, Distribution, and other areas as applicable.
  • Investigates and resolves shipping issues. Works with Sales, Distribution, Accounting and other areas as applicable.
  • Maintains routing and rate guides.
  • Shops rates for special projects.
  • Files claims for LTL and parcel carriers.
  • Maintains records related to carrier activity, transportation costs, savings, freight gain, etc.
  • Works with TMS (Transportation Management  System) system provider to resolve technical issues with rating, tracking and reporting functions.
  • Facilitates the Harmonized Code processes to ensure we are in compliance with necessary regulations.
  • Participates in SAP system testing to ensure transportation functions are working properly.
  • Provides backup support to the Mail Scheduling position as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED).

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in transportation functions.

Other Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 

Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
